The dusting of Snow up on the peaks of Whistler Blackcomb is getting lower and lower reminding us of how close we to Opening - November 26th 2009. This fact has brought many smiles around the WMA office.
This season is a special season for Whistler - being the mountain host town for the Winter Olympics 2010.
LostLake area to challenging day hikes such asWedgeMountain . Multi day hikes are also possible ask us!.
This is one of our absolute favorites, it can be a nice day hike or can be combined into a overnight or multi day hike. The path is up but it is in the nice cool trees of Hemlock and Western Red Cedar. This brings you out along a ridge that looks directly onto the “barrier” a natural rock barrier of volcanic origins. This is not even the highlight, once you move on past the beautiful first lake you come around a corner and there before you is a spectacular lake with a glacier coming right down to the water at your eye level – breathtaking.
GaribaldiProvincialPark ).
RainbowLake being the centre of attention. I Particularly like the river views on this hike (SoniaAndersonownerMountain Adventures).
Loop / Ridge Trails
WhistlerMountain . This is a great afternoon hike with lots & lots of beautiful views. First let Whistler gondola do all the climbing and then you have a loop you can make quickly or combine a couple together to make a longer afternoon. The nice thing about hiking up here is every wear you look, north (in particular) south, east or west is just mountain range after mountain range, truly a site on a sunny day.
LakePark
Lake park is a multi use slice of heaven. In fact you can easily walk to the trail head from your Whistler village accommodation. The main trail lost lake loop takes you on flat ground to a beautiful valley lake, if you want to mix it up – walk to lost lake and then around the trails that will wind you down to the Green Lake area (great for families & a stroller friendly area).
With the beautiful scenery and wild life around bring a camera on any of these hikes. There is a high likelihood of seeing marmots, bald eagles, bears, coyotes, whisky jacks and chipmunks to name but a few.
